The Doll Low repetitive sounds shimmer by like cars crossing the Aurora Bridge. One of the voices starts a wolfish call and then a siren starts to sing, luring us closer into the spectral vocal embrace.

I look forward to the end Say goodbye to you my friend I have seen the world below Learning all there is to know What is in the great beyond, stretching out just like a yawn? Will there be the answers there? When we die, do we care? Are we really free from strife, when we've passed on from this life? Will we even know a thing, when we're not breathing? I look forward to the end Start over, begin again I see with my eyes and not just what's been shown to I hear with my ears and not just what's been told to I taste with my tongue and not just what's been fed to I feel with my hands and feet not living in the virtual reality they give to children To feel at ease to know now to swallow it up, you'll see at least with love, you'll know what it can be now and follow it up, you'll see at least enough to feel at ease and be here now at least you'll get to see at least with love you'll finally be at peace now at least you'll get to know what it can be now

about

"Very full in terms of texture and yet sparse -- not much besides voice -- at the same time. The non-vocal elements sound precisely chosen and placed, and there's a pervading sense of deep intention, of moving toward a destination. The more song-like lead vocal lines skirt the edge of intelligibility on "Take Off." Aside from some of the electronic sounds and effects, I would have a difficult time pinpointing when this was made, or where -- there are quasi-spiritual aspects, which lean toward neoclassical at moments, with some primitivist elements (that are actually very technically clean) -- a really dense intersection of references." - RM Francis

about

Blessed Blood Seattle, Washington

Blessed Blood is an electronics-based project by Seattle's Rachel LeBlanc. Utilizing hardware effects to expand upon the natural resonances of singing, she processes harmonies into ecstatic hymns, wherein ethereal vocals glide above pulsations and sharp angles. The sound is informed by the PNW, traditional world music, and the exploration of history both personal and cultural. ... more
